Wow - what a weekend. We had a great time in Preston with almost my entire family. Lots of fun! Lots of food! I have been very nervous about traveling, working out, weight loss -- eating. I lost a pound the week we went to Vegas. I felt pretty darn successful. This week should be okay too. I ran on Saturday and Monday - Thanks for the fan club as I ran - cow with tag 5641 - I'm talking to you. I got to run in the beautiful country. Sprinklers setting the tempo, grassy green hills and blue skies. It was awesome. Saturday was cold, rainy and windy (Melanie - I haven't caught the vision!) and Monday morning just beautiful with a wonderful blue sky!
I didn't run a full 3 miles either day - I wasn't sure which house at the end of the road had the dogs but I didn't take my chances!
This week and next are my chances to push myself and get over the 3 mile mark and get some endurance built up! I know that I am running around a 12 minute mile which isn't close to where I would like to be. I do think that over the next two weeks I can get to where I want to be.
When I'm running it is feeling good but I feel like I'm plodding along with cement shoes. I suspect that's part of weighing as much as I do. As the weight comes off I think I will be able to pick up my speed and distance. Well, it's a short update of the past few days but there is a ton to do today!

  1. Try running as "light" as you can. I like to try to make as little noise as possible. It is easier to do if you run on your toes. Try it every now and then and you will feel like the cement is gone. A 12 minute mile is not too bad right now. Remember, you will get faster...slowly. Having a base will allow you to increase speed later on. Keep running!
