My husband and I did get up and walk Saturday. Walking is great because it is alone time with my husband which seems very rare these days - four kids will do that. I am finding that walking just doesn't cut it for me. That's ok, it's nice to walk and talk. It's my mental workout.
So this morning I got up and ran. It felt so good. I really tried to pay attention to when my body fell into the rythm of running. When my legs, arms and breathing felt good. It was about the mile and a half mark - just guessing here. Around 15 minutes so I guess mile and a quarter. Finishing felt great today. I pushed myself to the end. I didn't let up. I pictured myself running this Saturday. Finishing with my husband and kids at the finish line. No walking here. Infact, it was a good finish.
My feet are feeling a bit numb towards the end. I'm guessing a different pair of shoes would help. I may have to splurge a little and get a different pair. I tried lasing them differently but it didn't seem to make a difference.
I'm excited for Saturday. I've never done anything like this. Ever. In high school running was my worst enemy. The difference? Desire. Desire is the difference. Desire and a damned good sports bra!
Distance 3.6103 Time 39:49
So if I just say 3.6 miles in 40 minutes -11.11 minutes per mile.
If I could be under 35 minutes on Saturday, I would be way excited!
Wow! You are running way fast! You go girl!
ReplyDeleteRunning shoes do make the difference. There is a shoe store called Wasatch Running Company that is just a bit North of your county. I went there and they fitted me for running shoes (it is free). I walked out of there $95 poorer (the cost of my Sauconys), but they are the best shoes. So comfortable!
