I DID IT! I did it! I did it! It was awesome. The finish was the best. It was down hill and I felt like I had a lot left at the finish. I don't know my official time, on my watch I was at 36:47. A little slower than my normal week day workout. Under 12 minutes a mile. I was at the front of the pack to start. I'm not quite sure how I ended up there. I asked a lady next to me how to not get run over, she said "Go to the back." Nice. I didn't get run over.
Last night I took my kids and drove the route so that I was a little familiar with it. It was very flat then entire way until the end but nothing bad. I was proud that I ran most of the way. I stopped at 18 minutes and walked for 30 seconds and I stopped for 20 seconds at the end of the second. I'm not sure why I stopped, but it felt good and helped with the final push at the end.
What does today do for me? Well, I went alone which means I can do it by myself and no one needs to hold my hand. I now have a mark to shoot for - a time to beat. I did it. I did a hard thing! I can do hard things!
