Outside again! I hope this continues for the rest of the summer. I guess that is really up to me, isn't it? I'm the boss -- I wonder if this would work on my kids. Just Kidding.
I love running outside. It is so much harder than the treadmill. The first 5 minutes, not bad. Ran more than a 1/2 mile in that time. I was really worried that I would be under a half -- excited when I was over. I really struggled during the 8 minute run. I stopped at 4 and took a 30 second break then started again. My first part is relatively flat. The 8 minute part is for the most part up a hill. I don't want to change this because in the long run this will be a huge benefit. The second 5 minutes was great. I love it when your body is in the "mode" - does this make sense. There is a part of my fun when my body is okay with what I'm putting it through. That's when I just need to go longer. I'm sticking to the program for the 5K that I started but next week I'm going to see just how far I can go.
I think it's funny. Many people are way beyond where I am. I'm pushing for a 2 mile run and many are pushing for a 10, 17 or 26 mile run. Someday. Step by step. I'm going to be there.

Oh! I almost forgot. Went shopping for new workout clothes yesterday. Just a pair of capris to run in. They are awesome. So light and so airy. (What kind of description is that?)

Anyway the most important -- XL.
Not 1X.
Not XXL.
XL - that means (if I have to explain this I really don't think you can share in my joy to the fullest extent - JK) I'm not even going to explain what it means. IT IS AWESOME!!!

  1. I love the quote, "If you can run a mile, you can run a marathon." Running is 90% mental. I don't know how much of my blog you read the other day, but if you have a minute, check this post out. http://running2learn.blogspot.com/2010/04/long-runs.html
The first mile of a run is usually the hardest. It is somewhat mental, but also physical. It takes about that long for your your muscles to warm up, but more importantly, for your lungs to open up. All of a sudden, you can breathe steadily, and run further. Once you can run a mile, with training, you can run a marathon. Keep running!
