Hey! It's Tuesday! Guess what--- Yep, I got up and worked out! It was only for 30 minutes but it got done today. Food hasn't been a real enemy on this journey. I track every day -- my pantry is full of fresh fruits, veggies and veggie crisps (from Costco - like a chip but only 2 points). I make good food choices most of the time. Well, my fresh fruit is dwindling and yesterday was DH birthday. We had some family over for dinner. I made a couple soups and yummy cinnamon rolls. I had a bowl of white chili (OH YUMMY) and half a cinnamon roll. Oh my heck -- that cinnamon rolls was the best ever. So soft, so gooey. Yes, I had another bowl of soup and my other half. What happened? For one thing, I had been cooking a lot. It was late and I was hungry. Hungry won. Next time I'm putting a piece of gum in my mouth and walking away.

Why do we celebrate with food?
What makes it soooo exciting that we have to have food involved all the time?

Off to the shower and on with the day. A day of cleaning up - getting laundry done. I know. I know. Hold yourself back -- laundry.

  2. Molly, Look at you! You are doing awesome. I think one thing holding you back is you are too hard on yourself. It is okay to take a day off, and very wise to not run everyday. Strength training is really your key. (This is something I have added once or twice, but need to keep in my routine.) Cross training will not only break up the monotony of running, but will also increase your weight loss. Change up often and your body never gets used to it. I love to bike, a lot. It helps with running and is very enjoyable. Biking is much more fun with a road bike, and good friends. Hike the foothills, walk the kids to school or pick them up from school. A half mile to a mile is not too far for you or your kids to walk, and it is more calories burned. If it is much further, it may take more time than it is worth. Walk and run with your kids biking along side. They will have to circle back, but my kids love it. You are right about a 5k, they are a dime a dozen. I'm sure you can find one the week before or the week after the 5k you were going to do. Always have a race to run and not too far in the future and you will keep running. If I were you, I would do one in the next month, it will give you an idea where you really are in your training, and give you more motivation. Then when you run the next, you can see progress. Progress is your best motivation.
I am most impressed with your eating habits. That is my downfall. I was watching Biggest Loser and one of the tips was to eat very strict two days a week, semi-strict three days, and a little less strict on the weekends. That way your body never goes into starvation mode, and still gets some of those foods it craves. Keep up the great work, and I didn't mean to write a novel and I am not an expert, but I know you can do this, and am cheering for you.
