I ran outside this afternoon. It was awesome. I've sick and just haven't wanted to run. Running outside was just what I needed. Why have I wasted so many beautiful days? Oh yeah. I was sick. My pace was faster, my attitude better. I needed to do 6 miles and ended with 5.4 miles. Not too bad for not having done that in awhile. I've got to map out some good 6, 7, and 8 mile routes. The next few weeks will be building endurance and these are the distances that will be accomplished.I've always hated the hill going up 900 south and up Loader. Today I told myself that I wasn't going to stop until I hit the corner. It's garbage day so I just kept going to the next trash can. There's about 8. I got to the corner and felt pretty good so I just kept going. Trash can after trash can. There were about 6 - I conquered! I didn't stop there, I ran up to Luck Drive and around to my traditional finishing point. I felt great. I've got to remember that running outside is doable even in the winter. Today it was in the 40s and I finished in a short sleeved t-shirt - dripping with sweat. Ahhhh. Loving it!
I am a hill seeker. I used to avoid hills like crazy. Where I live and run this is really hard to do. I love hills now. I don't know the difference. They make me stronger. They build my confidence. I know that I can do anything when I think about some of the hills I've run. I love hills.
Jana - I talked to my friend about Red Rock and we are only losing 2 runners and he already has someone in mind for their spots. It looks like we'll fill two vans. Sorry. Let's find another race to do as a family.
Have a great day!
