August 28, 2010

This morning I got up bright and early -- well not bright. A ton of storm clouds. It was fairly dark and threatened to rain any minute. It was my goal to run over 6 miles and end up at Weight Watchers. This was very over rated in my head. I did it. I stopped my workout to have the Nike girl tell me I had only gone5.63 miles. I went into Weight Watchers, got on the scales only to have the Weight Watchers lady smile and say, "Well - you're still the same."

Why does the number haunt me? I'm over the number.

I feel great. I ran almost 6 miles and loved it. It was a new route - a road I have never been on before. Newly paved - I love running on new pavement.

So - my goal of losing 10 pounds in August isn't going to happen. Does it bother me? No - and if it does, I'll get over it. I'm going to focus on another goal. I set this goal on the Nike website. It is a distance goal. I wanted to shoot for 10 miles a week. After doing this for a week - I'm at 15.5 miles so I should probably up my goal. I need to think about how far I need to be running when I run my 3 to 4 times per week. I've got to get my distance in so that I can do my 10K on October 9th - I know I can run 6.2 miles. I want to finish in a certain time - I want to shoot for 70 minutes. It is very doable for me.

Distance 5.63 miles Time 1:07:26 Pace 11'57" per mile

My pace was slow - now do I expect to keep a faster pace for the entire 6 miles? Absolutely. No I'm not crazy. A 12 minute mile is to slow for what I want - wait--- didn't I want to run a 70 minute 6K? Doesn't a 12 minute miles almost get me there? Close. I would be super happy with an 11 minute mile for the 6K.
Have a great Saturday!
