Great run today. I did the run/walk like Jeff Galloway suggests in his book. I like it. I feel like my legs are much fresher at the end. It's still a mental hurdle for me - makes me feel like a wimp but who cares. Have I won and Olympic medal? Nope so I'm pretty sure Mr. Galloway knows what he's talking about.

Twelve weeks out from the 10K I want to do. My mind is full of doubt. That's farther than I have ever run in my life. You know though - it's 12 weeks away. One step at a time. Baby steps.
I've got to figure out how I want to do my long runs each week. Do I want to increase by a mile each week or would a half mile work? I'm thinking a half mile is the way for me to do it and be successful. What's success? Wanting to run again after each long run! If I added a half mile each week that would put me close to 10 miles on my long run before the 10K.

In Jeff Galloway's training incorporates hills for strength training and also speed training. I will do the strength training for about 6 weeks and then move to the speed training.

Distance - 3.7 miles Time - 47:40

This time include walking breaks. I've got to figure out how many breaks to take. I feel like today was too many. The last mile or so I never really got into a rhythm.

Weigh in was today - down 0.4 pounds. Not to great but after going on Trek - I'm grateful it wasn't a gain. I had to eat what was there, not a lot of fruit and no veggies. We did walk about 15 miles in 2 1/2 days but it was hot. Talk about water retention!

Something exciting -- I'm at 219.8! In the teens. I haven't been there for awhile! Next week I will be there solidly! My goal is in sight! TWO-O-NINE here I come!

  1. Love the pictures, Molly. Great job on the race. For the first few weeks, increase only a half-mile. Then you can increase more. They say no more then 10% increase per week. My first 10k I was mostly running a consistent 4/day. I think I had run 6 miles twice. You will beable to do it, no problem.

  2. I'm at 3.5 most days. I've been thinking 1/2 mile at a time. What do you think about running with walking breaks? I don't know if I'm sold on it - I now look forward to them when I used to be able to run the entire time. um.. One step at a time, that's all. How have you been? What is your next race? I saw in FB someone gave you a wet suit - awesome - is that for another triathalon?
