So this course was a much harder course than the Utah Valley 5K - the first part is up "Red Devil Hill" - not much different than running around where I live. I ran up that - slowly- and then just kept pounding - At the first mile marker I was at 9:16 - way too fast for me. The next part was down hill and everything leveled out by mile 2. From mile 2 - 3 I would say it increased in elevation a little. About the time I was feeling it, the guy at one corner said "four more blocks" and I thought hey - I do this every day - here I go!
I know this is not written well at all - just go with it. My friend finished before I did and came back and ran with me to the finish. That was awesome. The last 100 yards was across a grass field, we started onto the grass and the first half marathoner passed me - wholly cow - fast -- Anyway, there was a girl ahead of me and my friend hollered at me to beat her - so .... I did! I feel like a kid in a candy shop. It was fun. My time 35:08 -- Utah Valley 5k 36:42 -- So what's that - almost a minute and a half faster? I thought this was a much harder run than the Utah Valley so I'm very happy!
