I haven't had time to post about my 13 miles run on Friday. I was so excited to do this. Crazy, I know. I had my course mapped out - 12 miles exactly. I had my hydration pack and my GU chews. I slept in a little and didn't start my run until 6:30. I had some good down hill portions, some great uphill portions, everything was good. At six miles I felt pretty good so I went a little further hoping to get 13 when I was all done. The last two miles was a killer - it was almost all up hill with the exception of the last half mile. The only problem I had was my knees really ached during that last part. I finally stopped, stretched my IT bands, stretched my hamstrings a little and started again. The aching went away and I was able to finish. That day I helped pack our trailer and we drove for three hours - I expected to be really stiff and sore. I didn't feel bad at all. The next day I felt great.
Today I ran for the first time since Friday and I felt terrific. I just did three miles. First part down hill, the middle relatively flat and the end up hill. Felt good. I love running outside!
Less than two weeks until my first half marathon! Yeah!
Wow! It sounds like you are ready! I can't wait to hear all about it!
