I'm going to do better with writing. I do better physically when I'm a little more accountable.
I had a good 4 mile run yesterday. Only one break at 3.5 miles and then just ran the rest. I really wanted to see how 5 miles felt. Monday. That will have to happen on Monday :)
How's the IT band? It's still bugging. The good news - I can run again! It doesn't hurt when I'm running - I definitely know that I have an issue but it's not an intense STOP RUNNING pain. I didn't ice after my run yesterday. I did stretch good. Icing does help and my hip was achy all day. My right hip also has a tender spot where the IT band attaches. I'm hoping this goes away with stretching, foam rolling and continued strength training. I'm crossing my fingers that the hips beginning to hurt has no relation to the Altras. I LOVE running in them. I really can't describe how they feel.
This week I have a running techniques class. It's on the same night as my son's baseball tournament game so I'm hoping to make it. I really feel like I need to get on top of my form - that would help things out a lot. Speed - injury - endurance - all would be helped by getting on top of my form.
I've been thinking about my weight. I've maintained for six months. It has been a real learning experience. I had to come to the realization that just because I earned life time and celebrated that this journey is not over. It won't ever be over.
I'm going to start focusing on losing again. My goal - 159.4 pounds. That would be a one hundred pound loss. I know it's huge milestone. That's a lot of me that's gone. What's funny to me is this is "the me" that I've always known. This is "the me" that's been hiding under one hundred pounds. It's time for the journey to change things up.
My husband just started a weight loss program called Ideal Protein. It is very structured and very focused. He eats packaged food, lots of veggies and eight ounces of lean protein each day. He gets no sugar - no bread, no rice, no pasta, no potatoes, and no fruit. He's doing really good! If he can do this - so can I!
I'm going to quit sugar for eight weeks - that will take me to my next big run - Red Rock Relay Zion. I really want to be in the best shape I can physically. Being lighter will help my body. My focus - POWER FOODS. Lean protein and veggies. I'm telling you - VEGGIES are the secret to weight loss. When I increase my veggies, it seems that I naturally turn to other foods that are better for me. Water is my other focus. I HAVE to drink more that enough water each day. To get the ball rolling - I will also be weighing and measuring all of my food. That ALWAYS seems to work and I see the results I like. Last big item - my scale is getting put away again. My focus is on the behaviors - the behaviors necessary to see weight loss again.
