February 5, 2013

I'm trying to decide what I want to write.  I've been doing great.  I weighed in on Thursday and I was down - that's a good thing.  I weighed on Monday morning and I had gained everything back.  I was over my calories on Saturday and Sunday.  Two days totally wiped out five day of hard work.  Amazing.
Frustrating.
Enlightening.
I obviously know what I need to do.  It was working.  I obviously know what NOT to do.  It didn't work.  I know this life is about learning.  Why am I so bull-headed?  Why am I not doing what I know I should do?
Today I'm starting a few new things.
  • I'm not going to eat fruit and other items that have hidden sugars in them.
  • I am not going to eat sugary treats.
  • I'm really going to focus on the veggies.  My celery is already cut and it's my goal to eat it all today.  I'm going to eat my carbs in the morning.
  •  I'm going to focus on my water intake.
  • I'm going to plan.  All of my breakfasts, lunches and dinners.  Planning is essential.
  • I'm going to come up with a mantra.  Something that represents me.  Something that is positive that will point me in the right direction.
My plan is to do all my training runs outside.  So far, so good.  It is so nice to be running outside again.  I am truly loving it.  I'm running in the afternoons, the sun is out, it is warmer -- LOVE IT!  Saturday is my long run - 5 miles.  Funny how it seems like such an incredible distance for my right now.  I think I'm going to get up and do this in the morning.  Yes - it will be cold.  It's okay.  It may even be snowing!  We'll see how that goes.  Slick roads makes me nervous to run on.

  1. I love running outside. The treadmill doesn't even compare! Don't get me wrong - I'm thankful for the treadmill on those super cold days, but it doesn't compare! keep it up!

  2. I have no weather excuse for not running outside since I moved to Southern California - the weather is never too cold or icy to run. I need to get back into it though - I've been doing more spinning and strength classes and virtually no running. It sounds like you are doing great! I hope your long run goes well this weekend.
