Wow, I didn't realize it had been so many days since I've posted. Last week was a great week. I was down 3.6 pounds on Saturday. Finally! I've been trying something new and it's working. My body is getting enough protein and carbs to heal itself from the punishing training it's endured. That's something else that's going to change. The marathon training schedule that I'm currently following is pretty aggressive. I've compared it to others I've found on line and I really think it's too much for my body. I've found one from Hal Higdon that I really like and I'm going to start today. I've modified it a little for me and I feel so much better about it.
Saturday I had my long run. It was supposed to be 13 miles but turned out to be 11 miles. I was so okay with 11 miles! For the last two weeks I've been running with two friends - 2 guys who have a pace much faster than mine. Their slow is my fast. They take a couple breaks to stretch and walk for a minute and that's it. I think I'm done with that. I enjoy the company but I'm not enjoying the run. My body is thrashed when I'm done. This week I'm going to do the same 11 mile route. I'm going to enjoy it! I'm going to have planned walking breaks every 2 miles. I'm going to walk before I'm tired. I going to have fun! I miss that! I'm also going to have my husband pick me up at the end. It was awesome to have that on Saturday. No turning around and having to do a 2 mile hill at the end. Saturday wasn't too bad, I dressed for much colder than I needed to and was hot about 2 miles in. My husband came and picked up my jacket, gloves and hat. We had a tail wind all the way which was nice.
All is good - time to get moving and get life organized!
