Dear Molly,
I am writing this letter to you because I want you to always remember how you feel today.
You made it to the gym. That was good. You ran two miles on the treadmill and went home. You must have been tired. You made biscuits and gravy for your son and husband. What were you thinking as you put sausage into a pan and added margarine so that you could make the gravy? The entire time you were asking yourself what you were doing. You knew it was a bad choice but you ignored the voice in your head and kept making it. You even had two biscuits with the gravy. The entire time you were eating you were feeling guilty.
After you got the kids off to school you jumped in the shower. Being naked is tough. It hides nothing and as you're showering, you are just wanting to get out and get dressed. You are finally done, and you step out of the shower. There sits the scale. For a moment you want to step on it and see what it tells you. You don't step on because you already know what it's going to confirm. You are gaining weight. You aren't taking the steps needed to be healthy. You aren't making healthy choices. Healthy habits that took so long to establish are almost nonexistent. You dry off and get dressed. The jeans you pick out just came out of the washer. Crap. They are tight. You start looking for another pair. You have one other pair that fit right now. Thankfully they feel better. Now you start looking for a shirt that will hide the growing love handles that circle you like a doughnut. Black, big, bulky. Can you find anything like that? You opt for a gray Nike shirt that seems to cling to your fat, everywhere. This is crazy. You know you have to go to the store and you don't want people staring at your fat.
As you fold the laundry, you start thinking about what needs to be done. Habits must be created. You write two down on the white board that you will begin working on TODAY. The first is drink 8-10 glasses of water. The second is elminate late night eating, no eating after 7:00 PM. You also tracked all of your food. You are on your way! You can and you will start to develop healthy habits and making good choices.
Please remember how you felt. This is how you feel and you are less than 10 pounds above your goal weight. You've stopped the gain. You are going to make choices and develop habits that will drop those 10 pounds. You can and you will!
Love,
Me
I know all these feelings you are describing as I have added about 10 pounds in the last year. I am impressed and inspired by your rededication - you can do this!
